Complementary and alternative medicine is used to treat gastrointestinal disorders. Does it help patients with irritable bowel syndrome?

This study concludes the the use of complementary and alternative medicine for irritable bowel syndrome does not seem to be promising.

Relatively few complications have been reported from the use of acupuncture. However, acupuncture can cause potentially serious side effects if not delivered properly by a qualified practitioner.
