Acupuncture and Moxibustion for the Common Cold

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy where moxa herb is burned to heat the skin or acupuncture needles. Common symptoms for the common cold are cough, sore throat, runny nose and nasal congestion.

Japanese acupuncture and moxibustion were shown to be safe but they were not an effective treatment for the common cold.

Acupuncture needles are metallic, solid, and hair-thin. People experience acupuncture differently, but most feel no or minimal pain as the needles are inserted.
